Star Mahila Samajam is a registered society of women with aim to strive for the economic and social empowerment of the women especially the unmarried girls in the district. A stabilizer manufacturing unit in collaboration with V-guard industries has started under the society on 2nd September 1992. Now the unit is working at Ashagram, Chalannur. At present 26 girls are working in the unit. More than 90 girls have already benefited from this unit. The girls are compelled to save a major portion of their salary. It improves their saving habit and also leads to financial empowerment. Sr. Mareena Mathew has retired from the post of President/ Manager and Sr. Christina has taken the responsibility as the new manger. The unit lends hand to the backward unmarried girls to develop their skills and economic competencies.
